And just to clarify on my part... I read and tried to follow the next step:

"If you're using Windows - run the following command, replacing COM7 with the serial port of your board and NINA_W102-1.6.0 with the binary file you're flashing to the ESP32

esptool.py --port COM6 --before no_reset --baud 115200 write_flash 0 NINA_W102-1.6.0.bin"

I get the following: "esptool.py' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

But it does not explain;
1. Where I get the esptool.py (I did find that on a Github search)
2. How to install esptool.py on Windows - I extracted the file but don't know what to do with those...
3. Where the files need to go for Windows Command Prompt to access them.

I would say the instructions are clear as mud for Windows users.

Ok... Here is what I've done:
1. Installed Python3.7 on Windows using the Microsoft Store.
2. Installed esptool.py by typing "pip3 install esptool" in Windows Command Prompt - this was successful
3. PyPortal is connected and the white light is on, screen blank, and shows up as COM6 in Device Manager.
4. Inserted the following code in Windows Command Prompt: "esptool.py --port COM6 --before no_reset --baud 115200 write_flash 0 NINA_W102-1.6.0.bin" - An unknown window flashes extremely quickly and then Nothing happens. The window is not visible long enough to know what it says.
5. I re-install the UF2 file in bootloader mode and repeat the process. Same results.

This is exciting. I remember when I had to do 42 tasks just to get Windows 3.0 working! Good times! :-D

It should take a while to upload. Are you sure you have the COM port correct? Does the PyPortal show up in Windows Explorer as PORTALBOOT?

The port is correct. In device manager, if I unplug the PyPortal the com6 disappears. However, it does not show up in file explorer at all.

Strange - if you double-press the RESET button on the PyPortal, does it show up as PORTALBOOT?

It does go into boot mode and I can install any UF2 file with no issues.

Maybe the UF2 file is corrupted? Tomorrow, I will re-download it and try again.

I re-downloaded the PyPortal_ESP32_Passthru.UF2, but first, to make sure everything else worked, I uploaded the adafruit-circuitpython-pyportal_pynt-en_US-6.1.0.uf2 file. You can see the process on this video. Notice that when I upload the Passthru file, file explorer does not open.

That seems to be working ... but now I'm getting this: Error: The device has been lost.

I did erase the flash memory first, ran the thing...

I'm almost through and then it gives me this:

Error: Didn't get enough status bytes
To run the new firmware, please reset your device.

This is much better and I thank you!

I had to reload Chrome, reboot the PyPortal and then reconnect. Now I get this:

Uploading stub...

Been like 5-10 minutes and still has the following message:

I tried the newer 1.7.1 bin file and it went much further, like 60-70% but then it did the same thing:

Error: Didn't get enough status bytes
To run the new firmware, please reset your device.

IDK LOL.

When it says, Reset your device, do I use the black button and press it once or twice? I've tried both, but don't see anything happening either way. Just want to make sure I do the proper steps. Thanks!

Also, when I send over the CircuitPython bootloader file, none of my code runs. The drive shows up with all the folders and files, but when I run my code, I get several errors.
