QT PU and a 1.5 OLED

by starblast321 on Mon Feb 15, 2021 6:54 pm

Will the QT PY run a OLED
I have a QT PY and a P4741 and thought I would try to drive this OLED . But no joy. I have the lib that are listed and I used the simple test and get this
File "code.py", line 2, in <module>
ImportError: no module named 'displayio'
I have looked for the displayio to put in my lib.
can't find it.
I also have a new pico would that work better to tri to get this OLED to show text?

thanks for the help

Displayio is internal to CircuitPython (implemented in C++). It's only on the boards that have more flash and notably not on the QTPy If you add the SPI flash ship to your QtPy it will have displayio. However you still can't do much due to the limited amout of RAM. QtPy RP2040 will be a good choice. And, yes, the new Pico should work fine although it's still somewhat cutting edge. If you want something that will work without potential issues, an ItsyBitsy or Feather M4 Express are good choices.

An ItsyBitsy M0 Express will have displayio, but like I said, it doesn't have enough RAM to do a whole lot. But it might... worth a try.
