Adafruit sensors/devices without circuitpython

by CAProjects on Wed Mar 17, 2021 3:36 am

Hi

I am wondering if it’s possible to use the libraries for Adafruit sensors/devices breakout boards with micropython, I do not want to use circuitpython.

Also, secondly, is it possible to use sensors without the libraries, code it all from scratch in Python? Only ask as I have 2 use cases and 1 is with a raspberry pi bit don’t really want to use Blanka as I get some issues with doing it that way with some libraries just not working as described in the learn docs.

I don’t mind writing my own code and doing it all myself, just wondering if it’s even possible

Sure. That's all the circuitpython library code does. The sensors are typically either I2C (most common) or SPI devices. The libraries are just built on top of low level I2C/SPI libraries which micropython will have.
