I've been trying to get an older set of neopixels (purchased in 2017) to work with a raspberry pi 2. I've been following the wiring guide here using the diode version. https://learn.adafruit.com/neopixels-on ... -pi-wiring
I've verified that circuit python is working correctly by powering a single LED on and off via GPIO18 and have done continuity tests on the entire setup and I know that even though the wiring to the pixels look janky, they do pass current.
So my question is: should a continuity test on the strand of pixels work too? That's the one spot I don't get confirmation of a circuit, but I'm not sure if it should work. I'm just running out of potential culprits.
Here's my wiring, cause that is not above suspicion either.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Testing neopixels
What's the strand being powered with? If it's an external 5v supply you'll need a level shifter on the data line to convert the 3.3v GPIO signal to 5v for the NeoPixels.
You can test the continuity of the power and ground from one end of the stran to the other. The data signal passes through each pixel so there isn't end-to-end continuity.
