Xenon CircuitPython CircuitPython install problem

by dekip on Sun May 16, 2021 10:36 am

I am following these steps to install CircuitPython on the Xenon board:
https://docs.particle.io/tutorials/lear ... it-python/

As a programmer, I use J-Link EDU Mini. The programmer is ok, drivers are ok. I used it already with no issue.

By following these steps above, I have cloned the GitHub repo and update it successefully through Windows Command Prompt.
The next step is to disable mass storage support. While in CMD I couldn't use the JLinkExe command, so I go to the install folder and started it from there. MSDDisable command did its job. The next part doesn't work.

It says to start a make command while in an Adafruit directory. I am in a C:\Users\dekip\Adafruit_nRF52_Bootloader> and when type in make BOARD=particle_xenon clean, or any of the following make commands, I get:
make interrupt/exception caught (code = 0xc00000fd, addr = 0x4217b3)

When working with Xenon, it is connected, both with J-Link and by USB to a PC.

What am I doing wrong?

I tried and another solution. After burning the Adafruit Xenon (Arduino) bootloader, when I press the Reset button, Xenon shows up as Xenonboot. But, when I paste the UF2 file I downloaded from here:
https://circuitpython.org/board/particle_xenon/
It uploads, RGB LED goes white, but Xenon doesn't mount as Circuitpy. That means I can not use it with MU to upload CircuitPython files.

I am pretty much stuck here.

CircuitPython will not work with the Arduino bootloader. It needs the Nordic SoftDevice loaded in too.

The directions you are following for the Adafruit_nRF52_Bootloader assume you are on Linux or MacOS, sorry! You'd need to setup a development environment on Windows, which is quite tricky.

Is there a tutorial on how to do it on Windows?
