Accessing the 16MB Flash Memory on Arduino Nano RP2040 Conne

by falkyre on Tue Jun 08, 2021 10:45 am

Just received my Nano and I have been able to run Circuitpython on it no issues (both 6.3.0 and 7.0.0 alpha 3). A question, when I put the UF2 on, the CIRCUITPYTHON drive shows up but only 1MB in size. The Nano has 16MB available but how do you access that? Wouldn't the CIRCUITPYTHON drive be the 16MB in size?

Yes, I am new with this type of board, please be gentle.

Thanks.

This is a bug with the flash chip on the board. I've filed an issue to track it here: https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/issues/4874

Basically, the 1MB is a default when we can't detect the flash size. This works with most flash chips but not all of them. I suspect the chip used on the Arduino is one of them that doesn't work.
