ItsyBitsy M4 DOA
I ordered a few boards to let me play with CircuitPython, including an ItsyBitsy M4. Unfortunately, straight out of the box the M4 was nonresponsive. With either direct USB power or when hooked up to my laptop the board is lifeless. No lights. No appearing on the desktop. I tried resetting, but no luck there either. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: ItsyBitsy M4 DOA
What voltages do you see on the USB and 3V pins when the board is connected to a computer?

Re: ItsyBitsy M4 DOA
When connected to a laptop, the 3V pin has 3.293 volts and the USB pin has 5.095 volts. When connected to a USB power brick, the 3V pin has 3.293 volts and the USB pin has 5.066 volts.

Thank you.. those are the expected values, so we can rule out a failure in the power system.
Could you post a photo showing the component side of the ItsyBitsy M4 please? Let's see if there are any visible clues. 800x600 images usually work best.

Thank you. All the parts are present, and all the solder joints look good, so we can rule out those sources of trouble.
Does the SAMD51 show up as any kind of device when you connect it to your computer, either in the Device Manager on Windows or System Information's USB pane on a Mac?

Nothing from the ItsyBitsy shows up in the USB device tree on my Mac.

Re: ItsyBitsy M4 DOA
Thank you. That leaves one last thing to nail down:
Verify your USB cable by using it to connect some other, known-working device to the computer. There's a plague of charge-only cables out there with USB connectors at both ends but no wires for the data signals. We see people get caught by them daily, and it's become normal for people to say they had to try three or four cables before finding one that worked.

The same USB cable and a Circuit Playground Express give me a “CPlay Express” in the Mac’s USB Device Tree and I see the CPLAYBOOT drive mounted on the desktop.
