oh I didn't see that troubleshooting page.
Unfortunately adding a delay didn't help, I tried delaying for 10, 100, 1000 and 10000 ms but the display didn't turn on at all. The output is still the same, with the "mismatched" powermode and image format mode.

Thanks for trying the delay.

I think we are getting caught in a issue that is based on our learn guide not providing adequite instructions for older boards.

It used to be that these TFT shields were configured to work with the Arduino UNO out of the box. The guide even says this. However, we made a change with the v2 shield you have to be more 3.3v oriented and now you are sturggling with a Metro328 which is a 5v board and seeing the voltage mismatch on the serial console.

Please solder the IOREF and 5v pads together based on this memo on the product page:

As of Oct 26, 2018 this board has the I2C pullups connected to IOREF rather than 5V so it's more compatible with 3.3V boards.
