Neotrellis M4 LEDs control by USB host

by pmiller057 on Sat Aug 08, 2020 5:47 pm

Hi

I wish to use my Neotrellis M4 as a keypad to help control stage lighting. I would like the keypad leds in the Neotrellis to be controlled by the host computer as status/feedback indications. My programming skills are very much at the novice end of the scale. I have had a look for example applications and code but come up with nothing.

I think there may be two ways of acheiving what I want.
1) Use the Neotrellis as a Midi output device, sending the Neotrellis note and velocity informaton with the note value selecting the (1 of 96) LED and the velocity setting the brightness with RGB colors individually selected.
2) Use the Neotrellis as a USB HID device with the LEDs controlled in a similar manner to standard keyboard caps/num/scroll lock LEDs, but the Neotrellis has many more.

Does anyone else have any better ideas or examples to acheive this?

Thanks

Peter
