I connect battery to ItsyBitsy nRF52840 but not working.

Post by LiuToki »

Hello.
I use Adafruit ItsyBitsy nRF52840 Express (https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-its ... s?view=all)

I already programmed to this board and checked its works with USB connection.
The program is like a keyboard with a bluetooth connection. And the LED on the board lights up when the power is turned on.

And then I decided to use the battery and plugged in the Li battery to BAT pin and GND pin.
But, not working.
I connect the battery + to BAT pin and - to GND pin.

When I measure the voltage between the BAT pin and the GND pin, I have confirmed that it is about 4V.

Is there anything else wrong?
Also, please tell me if you need any other information to resolve.

Thank you,

Does it work with both USB and a battery connected?

Can you measure the voltage on these pins: 3v, EN, Vhi. Ideally with just USB, just a battery, and both connected.

Hi, Dave.
Thank you for your reply.

I Check the voltage following pins with the 3 ways.

- Only USB
3V: 3.26[V]
EN: 4.88[V]
Vhi: 4.94[V]

- Only BAT
3V: 0.00
EN: 0.00
0.00

- Both USB & BAT
3V: 3.26
EN: 4.90
Vhi: 4.95

By the way, When I connected both USB & BAT and measured the voltage of between BAT and GND, it was 7.28[V].

What are you using for a battery?

I use Lithium rechargeable battery.

Spec is 3.7V 900mAh 1.8A.
I charged with the charging circuit before using it.

If I can use DC 5V(from using AC/DC) instead of battery to BAT pin, I'll try to check whether the battery is broken.

Hello.

I check AP2112 Datasheet and that VIN max voltage is 6[V].
So I input 5[V] to BAT pin(from using AC/DC).
I confirmed that there is a voltage of 5V between BAT and GND.
But following pins are 0[V].

3V: 0.00
EN: 0.00
Vhi: 0.00

Is this a problem with the main unit?
Is there anything else I should check?

Hello.

I requested a friend who has the same product to apply a voltage of 5 [V] to the BAT pin to see if it works.
Then, it works(Look at the following image).

So, I think my device is maybe broken.
So sad...

What should I do ?
Do I have to buy a new one again?

Ray.

Hello.

I found why my board does not work.
Look at the picture!
WTF, the VBAT diode is not mounted!

Can you to send me a new board?

I bought this board DigiKey Electronics through marutsu online(https://www.marutsu.co.jp/).

Thanks.
