FRUSTRATED! MAC & Metro Mini 5v 16Mhz can't connect

FRUSTRATED!

I have Macbook Air 2018, OSX 10.14.6 and bought 4 Metro Mini's 5V 16Mhz CPUs because all 5 of the Trinket 5V 16Mhz CPU, refused to show the USB port when I was trying to upload software into them. Now this one is doing the same thing even after uploading and installing the USB to Serial driver software. The Arduino IDE refuses to see the port and I'm back to square 1. HELP! I've tried all of the fixes, including using the old previous driver. I need this to work. What do I do now?

BTW, in terminal after installing the drivers and rebooting, doing ls /dev/cu.* does not show me the USB port. So it looks as if the driver is not installing.

Gary,

Which version of the SiLabs CP2014 driver have you installed? I believe the issues from the older version blocking upload have been resolved.

Have you successfully been able to connect to any microcontroller from your MacBook? I ask because this is usually the USB port itself or the cable that is the issue.
