I downloaded the legacy USB driver as suggested in the info you sent. Unfortunately, the results are the same. Details are as follows:

Ran “uninstaller.sh” to uninstall the current version. And rebooted the computer.

Unzipped the downloaded “Mac_OSX_VCP_Driver_10_6.zip” file, double-clicked “SiLabsUSBDriverDisk.dmg”, which opened a folder, and double-clicked “Silicon Labs VCP Driver.pkg”

Message: “The Silicon Labs VCP Driver has been successfully installed.”

The driver is “CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 4.x.14 - November 3, 2016. This release includes the Macintosh OSX driver for the Intel and
PowerPC Platforms versions 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11.”

Connected the Metro.

The “Terminal” method (entering “ls /dev/cu*) produces this output:
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu.MindWaveMobile-SerialPo-21

The “About this Mac” method produces this output:
CP2104 USB to UART Bridge Controller:
Product ID: 0xea60
Vendor ID: 0x10c4 (Silicon Laboratories, Inc.)
Version: 1.00
Serial Number: 01BE20E6
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Silicon Labs
Location ID: 0xfa130000 / 6
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 100
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

On a different topic, I noticed the time on the posts is 5 hours later than for my home, and am curious where you're located (or is it the servers?) I'm in Toronto, Canada.
Also, I hope this post will not somehow alert you and wake you up.

No worries. Post whenever you want. :)

Weird issue. Let me pass this on and see if anyone else has ideas.

Connected thru a hub (from Adafruit). Looks like the same result:

"Terminal" method:
ls /dev/cu*
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu.MindWaveMobile-SerialPo-21

“About this Mac” method:
CP2104 USB to UART Bridge Controller:
Product ID: 0xea60
Vendor ID: 0x10c4 (Silicon Laboratories, Inc.)
Version: 1.00
Serial Number: 01BE20E6
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Silicon Labs
Location ID: 0xfa134000 / 7
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 100
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

Entered "sudo dmesg" in the Terminal. Output is very long. I estimate about 330 lines. File is uploaded.

I should have mentioned in my most recent reply that my computer still had the legacy USB driver installed when I produced the results (CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 4.x.14 - November 3, 2016)

The results thru the hub with the most recent driver are below. (CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 5.3.5, Feb. 25, 2020)

"Terminal" method:
ls /dev/cu*
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu.MindWaveMobile-SerialPo-21

“About this Mac” method:
CP2104 USB to UART Bridge Controller:
Product ID: 0xea60
Vendor ID: 0x10c4 (Silicon Laboratories, Inc.)
Version: 1.00
Serial Number: 01BE20E6
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Silicon Labs
Location ID: 0xfa134000 / 7
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 100
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

sudo dmesg file is attached.

There are instructions in this version about displaying the log file. It is below:

Last login: Fri Apr 17 18:49:26 on ttys000

There's also an info.txt file mentioned with this version. It's uploaded.

Oh-oh! I may have forgotten to reboot after uninstalling the previous driver. Sorry!
Here is what I have done now:

Ran “uninstaller.sh” to uninstall the current version.

Rebooted the computer.

Used the installer located in the “Troubleshooting” folder, which the troubleshooting text states is the Apple installer.

Message: “The Silicon Labs VCP Driver has been successfully installed.”

Connected the Metro (thru the hub). Results:

“Terminal” method:
ls /dev/cu*
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu.MindWaveMobile-SerialPo-21

“About this Mac” method:
CP2104 USB to UART Bridge Controller:

Results of “sudo dmesg” are in a file. (Uploaded)

Saved “info9.txt” file. (Uploaded)

Also uploaded Silicon Labs' troubleshooting instructions, for your info.

Would it be useful if I reboot now and send you all the above info?

Thank you for investigating this problem.

No, I didn't. When I read the install instructions, I thought that rebooting was recommended after uninstalling, but I didn't see anything about rebooting after installing. (Maybe I missed it?)

Here is what I did now:

Rebooted the computer. (Did not reinstall the driver this time)

Connected the Metro (thru the hub). Results:

“Terminal” method:
ls /dev/cu*
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu.MindWaveMobile-SerialPo-21

“About this Mac” method:
