Power Consumption of Metro mini

by amitshishodia on Mon Jul 20, 2020 5:43 am

Hello All,

What is the power consumption of Adafruit Metro Mini 328?

Can I give the power supply through a 6.6v battery?

A 6.6v battery would be fine to power the Metro Mini.

Power the METRO Mini with 6-16V polarity protected on the Vin pin, or plug the micro USB connector to any 5V USB source.

Your power consumption question of course depends on how much you have activated. On the low end using sleep modes and disabling peripherals you will see something like:

SLEEP_MODE_IDLE: 15 mA
SLEEP_MODE_ADC: 6.5 mA
SLEEP_MODE_PWR_SAVE: 1.62 mA
SLEEP_MODE_EXT_STANDBY: 1.62 mA
SLEEP_MODE_STANDBY : 0.84 mA
SLEEP_MODE_PWR_DOWN : 0.36 mA

The absolute rating for the entire chip is 200mA with 40mA per pin. These levels are not recommended to actually run at for a sustain period.
