Adafruit Metro M0 Express: can't get StandardFirmata to run

by BerndK on Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:12 pm

Arduino: 1.8.13 (Mac OS X), Board: "Adafruit Metro M0 Express, Arduino, Off"

I just upgraded from an Uno to the Adafruit Metro M0 Express board, and can't get StandardFirmata or any Firmata to work. I am in the Aurduino IDE, but open to venture to CircuitPhyton if recommended (i am sending IR Sensor readings to MaxMSP)
Any Ideas? ( I Installed both SAMD drivers)
This is my error message:

In file included from /Users/ Documents/Arduino/StandardFirmataMETRO/StandardFirmataMETRO.ino:28:
/Applications/Arduino.app/Contents/Java/libraries/Firmata/Firmata.h:131:17: error: friend declaration of 'void encodeByteStream(size_t, uint8_t*, size_t) const' specifies default arguments and isn't a definition [-fpermissive]
131 | friend void FirmataMarshaller::encodeByteStream (size_t bytec, uint8_t * bytev, size_t max_bytes = 0) const;
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Error compiling for board Adafruit Metro M0 Express.

Thanks

Anyone? is there a different firmata I have to use or do should I get a different board? I was hoping that the Metro Express would be faster when dealing with multiple distance sensors to Max.

You would need a firmata build specific to the Metro M0 Express, since it needs to know about specific hardware configuration.

Maybe give CircuitPython a try:
