Adafruit Metro - Connecting with a Data & Sync cable does no

by ZJamesHuiZ on Thu Jun 17, 2021 4:42 pm

Hi,

I have a Metro 328 board. Today when I am trying to modify the program a little bit, I found that it is not uploading. The Green LED stays on and the red LED flickers once. I found that I have used a micro USB that is probably charging only. However, when I used a Data & charging cable, the green LED will flicker once very quickly and turn off. At the same time, when connecting to my PC it makes the USB connected sound, and immediately followed by the USB disconnected sound. When I try the charging only USB cable, the board still turns on with the green LED on, but cannot be uploaded.

Does this mean this board is fried?

What is the PC? Is there something connected to your Metro?
I want to rule out the problem is not caused by:
A) advanced USB3 ports, sometimes having a hard time connecting simple USB 1.1 stuff
B) you don't draw too much current, this behaviour can happen when the board draws too much.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

My computer does have usb3.0 ports on all usb ports. However it was working before.
I can try another computer with older ports.

There's only 12 tiny LEDs connected at the moment, so I thought it shouldn't be too much current.
