Cricket, Microbit, MakeCode

Post by keithbraafladt »

I have a Cricket for the Microbit - I'm excited to use it with servos I also teach with it and would like to use it with MakeCode but I am confused about if it does not work or if it does. I found this that says it does not:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-cri ... t/makecode

I found this page that provides code... so which is it and if not when might it be available and what do you recommend until then?

As that first page says it's "not currently available", although it has been previously. I have no idea if it will be again.

i have been using https://makecode.microbit.org/beta#editor as you can see from the link it is a beta and i don't know when or how it is put into production.

the adafruit guide for the crickit has the link for the extension you need to use it.

hope that helps

I purchased the Crickit based on this page,

https://www.adafruit.com/product/3928

that says, "Please note at this time that MicroPython is not supported yet, just MakeCode & Arduino!"

Which to me says that it works with MakeCode on the product as listed: Crickit for the microbit.

But now that I have it, on this page:

https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-cri ... t/makecode

it says, "MakeCode is currently not available for Crickit for micro:bit or the Crickit HAT for Raspberry Pi."

and, "a binary from MakeCode it is compiled for the Circuit Playground Express"

Can someone from adafruit give us a clear response on this?

Thank you

I advise you to make a new thread for this, as it will have a better change of being seen and answered by everyone (i.e. someone who might have an answer for you... which, alas, I don't).

You can use MakeCode on the micro:bit with Crickit. In makecode.microbit.ort/#editor click on Advanced > Extensions then in the Extensions window type "crickit" into the search field and press enter. You'll see the crickit extension show up, just click on it to add.
