I'm teaching a class in 4H so i bought about 10 of the circuit playground express 4H kits. The kids are all starting out with makecode (4/5 graders). I bought an 8ohm 1w external speaker from you since 1 kid is really into the music and lights on the device. I've been doing a little with the external speaker on A0 and gnd but it's not working and I suspect I have to turn the internal speaker off, no sound thru the external speaker just the internal, Is it possible to do this in MakeCode or does it require circuitpython.
How would I do this.
Thanks
Ron Miller

Re: external speaker using with circuit playground express/m
The CPX has a tiny amplifier on the board to drive the on-board speaker. But you cannot drive a bare speakerspeaker directly from the A0 analog output pin - it isn't strong enough.
You can use a powered speaker with amplifier, such as https://www.adafruit.com/product/3885
