Clue Screen not working

by RobPod on Thu Aug 13, 2020 3:18 pm

I ordered two CLUEs. One works fine. The other board seems to work fine except the TFT does not turn on at all. I can load the demo program and can see that the system is functioning (neopixel, red led, front white leds, buttons, all function as expected. Screen is always blank.

Have a look at the display connector on the back and compare with the working one. Is it stralght? Pushed in all the way? Etc. Post clear photos if you aren't sure.

After fiddling with the connector, I think the problem is with the flex cable itself. If I gently press on the small section of flex that splits off on the right side of the cable, the TFT comes on. I assume these two lines that split off are the backlight?

Sounds like it. I'm not sure what you mean by "splits off", though. Can you post a clear photo?

Got it. How's that look on the front of the board?

My thought is that the bit on the right got crimped during assembly which munged the lines.

Please email support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of one CLUE.
