Bonsai Buckaroo defective motor connector design

Post by tlpada »

As instructed by @adafruit_support_carter (viewtopic.php?t=167971#p823528) I am opening yet another thread on the defective surface mount motor connector on the Bonsai Buckaroo.

There have been multiple reports of this problem:

I have 3 of these Buckaroos and they all fall out -- if you can ever get them in without breaking the tab -- from the slightest jostling. Trying to get the wires in often results in a broken plastic tab, which happened to me.

I would like at least the Buckaroo with the broken tab replaced please, but I would also like some wire connector solution from Adafruit that would actually work -- please provide 3 stemma connectors, please, if soldering them on is the only way for these to work (or any connector that will work). I had two plants die because of this problem. I think Adafruit should just recall these boards but in the interim please replace with some kind of connectors that will work.

Thanks.

hi, we're sourcing high temperature connectors for a future revision.
you can solder wires to the tabs if you have a soldering iron

email support@adafruit for a refund
