setting up CLUE Sensor Plotter in CircuitPython

Hi all...! I'm trying to run this nifty program from the learning center:

Followed instructions and all went well, downloaded spec'd files, created Clue as USB drive, uploaded circuit python 6.30 and libraries, transferred individual files, everything working as expected. But then on startup, screen shows horizontal wavy lines for a split-second, and goes to error message:

Line 41 calls plotter, but message says it can't find plotter, even though plotter.py is in the same directory. ??
So is there really a bug in the code at line 41, or have I repeatedly done something wrong in my setup?
Anybody help out a newbie here?

Please post your code (in the message, in a code block is best) as well as the contents of CIRCUITPY (screenshot is fine).

Screenshot of circuitpy attached. I have one of the lib contents if you need it.

One thing I noticed is the error message also says that my code had two extensions, and I think (?) I understand now.
I remember using Notepad along the way, as an intermediary I think, copying the code from onscreen to the code.py file...?
Can I just rename and ditch the *.txt extension? Or better a fresh start?

We're almost ready to release images into the wild.

I have another Adafruit display to configure (the 2.4" touch TFT with a bluetooth feather); starting very soon, and I'll see how that goes. :)
The learning center stuff is terrific.

This is a new one for me but I think the problem can be seen in the first screen shot with the mention of "code.py.txt" - the file extension (a feature from CP/M via 86-DOS and MS-DOS) is actually .txt. This is also hinted at by Windows showing the files with an icon (ultimately from Xerox) and the WARNING message you spotted.

I knew CircuitPython looked for code.py and main.py but it's surprising it will execute text files. I'd imagine this is a convenience to help users with download methods where the file ends up with the extra incorrect file extension but it backfires when you have additional library files with the same superfluous extension. Here's the current (26-Sep-2021) interpreter code (main.c) confirming it can look for other names:

If you adjust all of the files from .py.txt to ,py it should work. In Windows Explorer this can be accomplished by clicking on View and ticking the checkbox for File name extensions. Right click on each file for Rename will then let you remove the troublesome .txt. Or use ren on command line.

Thx Kevin. Haven't been back to that part of the project in a few days, will try this. I often use Notepad as a catchall for copying or downloading formatted stuff, since it strips the formatting, but here, as an intermediary in my file transfer, it gotcha'd me. Will let you know.
