Re: Safe Box - x0xb0x EEPROM backup & restore
I know this is an older thread but I kept getting errors
checksum, timing out, and someting about a 32
tried different ports, on/off, different modes but no avail.

Are you able to successfully comunicate with the x0xb0x using some other application such as c0ntr0l? If not this would point to a hardware problem.
Also, make sure the usb cable you use isn't too long and is of decent quality (properly shielded).

Yes, I was just playing around with the OS's the other day with c0ntr0l, so that works fine.
safe can start communicating, hooks up to the port and connects, and after clicking backup
the status bar will load like half an inch then an error pops up...
It is a long cord but c0ntr0l worked fine with it.

What are the specs of the PC you are running safebox on? CPU type and frequency?

Re: Safe Box - x0xb0x EEPROM backup & restore
I'm having trouble getting it to work, what should I have my x0xb0x set to?
It says Error Unknown message Type 11
Is there a step by step guide anywhere for n00bs and non-technical types?
EDIT:
I've now got it to the point where it seems to recognise the b0x but after a few seconds says "operation timed out"
I've tried this on 2 b0xes with 2 different pc's with 2 different operations systems, win7 and XP

Re: Safe Box - x0xb0x EEPROM backup & restore
I tried to link my x0xb0x with 2 different PCs, desktop and laptop.
The fact is the COM port is not recognised at all on my systems.
How to do that?
I got some drivers from the internet but the pack is a lot cryptic,
it contains many folders and files with different terminations:
.INF, .CAT, DLL, ,SYS but no practical instructions.
thanks,
A.

Re: Safe Box - x0xb0x EEPROM backup & restore
Guys,
I've had to suspend all work on Safebox and Kontrol to address some health issues. I am unable to pay the hosting costs at the moment, which explains the unavailability of the site.
I might open source what I've got so that all my work isn't lost. I'd love to see derivatives pop up in the near future.
Cheers,
j00lz

What programming language did you write the programs in?
I already have a sourceforge account where we might put the code on...
Let me know

It's written in C# / .Net but would be easily ported since there isn't that much code.
