output

Post by filq »

hello
should i use phone or mix out for the output of x0xb0x?
phones out is cool for the headphones, but it seems too noisy for me
mix out is not noisy, but i can't check it with my soundcard input as the card broken now

thanks

The mix out, the phones level is for headphones, not line level.

I just read in another thread that it seems to be TS. I verified with a TS cable that it's significantly louder in my mixer using a TS cable over a TRS cable. Can this go into the manual?

Due to a questionable design decision the ring of the TRS MIX output jack is left open.
So if you connect it with a TRS cable to a mixer with an symmetrical input, the "cold" part of input is open. Which works bad.

Solder a wire from ring to ground on the I/O board and the problem is gone.

(In a good design the "cold" (ring) gets the same output impedance as the "hot" (tip), such outputs are called pseudo symmetrical. They work perfectly together with all other studio gear. )
