Re: BANNED
I had some wierd behaviour, but now it works. Yeah, its osx. The port is called "/dev/tty.usbserial -00002014". I could see it under "about this mac" -> more info -> system report, but there was no port name. Not that I could see anyways. But as you say it scans for ports and it should be quite easy to guess if you dont have too many things connected. Thanx a bunch! Think i am going to try sokkos 2 now

Re: BANNED
Hi guys, I don't know what's happen. I'm onmac osx 10.6.8 and trying to upload MarOS 1.4.1
I'm using BANNED, setting the right port, Bootload mode etcc everything it's ok, BANNED goes thru the step all is ok.
But when I restart my x0xb0x the old firmware it's still here :/
Any tip?

Re: BANNED
PS: Probably something went wrong with my ATMEGA chip. I'm reading all the conversation on this post and I someone wrote something about bootloader... I don't know so much about this kind of thing, but if I buy a new chip what I should do to load the bootloader on it?

Re: BANNED
okay, let's test whether you have a bootloader or not
1. set the MODE selector to "BOOTLOAD"
2. switch the x0xb0x OFF
3. switch the x0xb0x ON
4. set the MODE selector to any other mode (like keyboard or random or pattern play)
if it "reacts" (changes the LEDs, plays patterns, responds normally) then probably there's no bootloader
if it doesn't react - the bootloader is probably there

it doesn't react, so if that's right bootloader should be ok

Re: BANNED
well then, the bootloader should work
try to upload the firmware again, watch carefully what BANNED says, if there are any errors or warnings
also ensure that you're not flashing the wrong .hex file (of the stock firmware or sokkos)

Re: BANNED
I'm on mac 0sx10.6.8, using BANNED v1.0
When I try to connect to x0xb0x in pattern sync out it say " Ping BAD" , Firmware Version.....
Port should be the right one, because it say "opening serial port" Success.

Re: BANNED
if it cannot connect to the firmware (Ping == BAD) that is already a sign that something isn't right with the serial port or the settings
make sure you have installed the USB<->Serial drivers (FTDI)
make sure the port is correct, also make sure the baudrate is 19200
you should be able to connect to the firmware without any problems
once you can connect - you can then try flashing the firmware

Re: BANNED
opening the serial port means that there IS such a port in the OS (it could be a real one, or a virtual one)
but that doesn't mean that anything is connected to it
if there's nothing connected to it (or there is, but is switched off) - the app will only send data to the port, but won't get any reply
on Windows, the USB<->Serial driver creates a virtual serial port only when the x0x is plugged in, and powered ON
this port dissapears when you unplug the cable or switch the x0x OFF
however, if it was a real serial port - it will never dissapear from the OS

Re: BANNED
Tried another few time, after some trial and error BANNED uploaded the firmware using a different port. But as I said in the previous post after it completed the process, new firmware was not there :/
