Trouble shooting help - no sound

Post by Captjono »

Hi all,

I've had my xox for a while now. I purchased it made - from the adafruit kit.

After a long break of not using it (at least 1 year) - I went to use it yesterday and it had no sound.

Basically -
The device turns on.
It will run/edit patturns
Run random
While running you can hear a very light tick in time with it going to each of the steps (I don't know if this is just electrical noise - like of the LEDs turning on and off).
It changes tempo
volume sounds like it has more and less hiss as you turn it up and down.

What I have tried -
I reloaded it with the latest firmware - which was successful. (but didn't change anything so probably not the problem)
I have taken it fully apart to visually inspect the unit for any loose connections or bad solder joints - all looks good.

I'm not sure where to go from here? Can anyone suggest some trouble shooting steps I might try to see where things are going wrong?

Thanks so much!

Jon

i'd suggest to use the basic tests from the build manual (found on the ladyada x0xb0x pages)
start from the test which probes the voltages and then the VCO output
if your VCO produces audible sound, then the next thing is the filter..
