Pro trinket 5V with Micro Lipo charger board

by Emmzzs on Mon Apr 16, 2018 11:58 am

Hi

I'm working on a project that I now want to make portable. I started with an Arduino Uno but I changed this board succesfully to an Adafruit Pro trinket 5V board.
Now I want to connect a Micro Lipo with MicroUSB jack charger board to the pro trinket so I can use this board to charge the batteries.

Can someone tell me how to connect the charger board with the pro trinket?

Thank you so much for your reply!

The Micro Lipo charger does not have voltage boost capabilities. So it would be a better match for the 3.3v Pro Trinket. You may be able to get it to work with the 5v Pro Trinket, but the the processor will be technically 'overclocked' for the operating voltage and analog readings will not be reliable.

To connect the Micro Lipo to a Pro Trinket, connect GND and BAT from the charger board to GND and BAT on the Pro Trinket.

Something like the PowerBoost 500C would be a better match. In addition to the LiPo charger, it has a built-in boost converter that will boost the 3.7v from the battery to 5v for the processor. You can connect it to the Pro Trinket using a standard USB cable, or you can wire GND->GND and 5v->5v.

Hi Admin, I changed the charger board to a power boost 1000c. To connect it to the Pro Trinket do I connect the GND and BAT of the two boards or do I connect the GND and 5V pins on each board?

Thanks for your help!

You can connect it to the Pro Trinket using a standard USB cable, or you can wire GND->GND and 5v->5v.
