SD Card and W5500

by abbottf on Thu Nov 07, 2019 6:28 pm

I just got your W5500 shield. When I run SDFileList, all the files on the SD card are listed.
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
17:16:49.965 -> Initializing SD card...initialization done.
17:16:50.013 -> Dir - /
17:16:50.013 -> SYSTEM~1/
17:16:50.060 ->    WPSETT~1.DAT      12
17:16:50.060 ->    INDEXE~1      76
17:16:50.060 -> RESULTS.XML      940
17:16:50.107 -> HTML/
17:16:50.107 ->    HMGPAGE.HTM      3640
17:16:50.107 -> LOG/
17:16:50.154 -> done!

When I run SDWebBrowse, once the port is opened I get jibberish -
17:19:35.320 -> ⸮⸮⸮⸮⸮p⸮⸮⸮0⸮
Any suggestions
Thanks

Hello abbottf,

The jibberish output you are seeing when running SDWebBrowse.ino sure looks like a baud rate mismatch.

I see there is a some baudrate(115200) code being initialized in the SDWebBrose.ino example code. Are you being consistent about your baudrate settings between sketches?

Thank you. Good find.
Can you point me to a article about wiring the W5500 to a Mega2560?

In house I do not see any guides from us on hooking up the Mega2560 to the W5500.

However, going off site this one seems promising:

I have the mega-2560 wired to your W5500 shield. I have wired the following:

W5500 --- mega-2560
10 -> 10
11 -> 51
12 -> 50
13 -> 52
4 -> 4
3.3v -> 3.3v
Gnd -> Gnd

I get: Initializing SD card...initialization failed!

Am I missing something in the wiring? Is there another pin I need to attach to your W5500?

Thanks
Abbott

Hello abbottf,

Go ahead and try using the same pins used in the example from leoricksimons blog. He is using the ICSP header for the reset, 3v, gnd, mosi, miso. He is also grabbing the SS pin 10 separate. I realize you are using the same pins by number from elsewhere on the board, but let's just go through the ICSP + the SS (pin 10).

I've had some success in plugging the W5500 shield into the Uno end of the Megaboard.
I've attached an image of the W5500 on the MegaBoard.
SDFileList works fine.
When I run SDWebBrowse, the SD card works, but Wiznet munges the ip address.
192.168.10.177 becomes 0.0.0.120
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi abbottf,

Good idea on stacking the W5500.

What value are you using for the WIZ_CS variable? Are you using the Adafruit Ethernet 2 library?

Thanks for the response. I believe the problem is with the Elegoo Mega2560. They are working on seeing what's wrong on their end.
I hope I'll get a quick resolution from them, since I'm sure others are trying to use the shield with their board.
