Lightsaber M4 express and Propmaker crackling audio

by Aeoun on Tue Nov 05, 2019 10:29 pm

I just started a project for the lightsaber featherwing following this guide
https://learn.adafruit.com/lightsaber-f ... g/overview

I am having an issue with the audio crackling. I have narrowed it down to only happening when I'm playing wave files larger than around 80-100kb. It never happens if the files are smaller than that.
I don't know if it is something wrong in the code(copied the one in the guide) or one of the boards is bad (m4 express or propmaker).
I've tried different speakers, wave files, circuitpython ver, looked for bad solder joints, powered by the usb port and tried a battery only to find it has something to do with the size of the wave files which makes no sense.

I would like to be able to loop the full lightsaber idle sound without having to chop the file down under 80kb so I don't get crackling noise.

Nothing else but the 2 boards and a speaked were connected, I had just started the project.

Does the noise start as soon as a larger file begins playing, or after a track has been playing for a while?
