Hello,

I just purchased a Pi 3 a+. I am getting 2 red leds lit and no display output.

Please advise.

Thanks!

What operating system image are you using and how did you write it to the SD card?

What are you using for a power supply?

Hi Carter,

I am using a power supply from Amazon - specific for 3 model a+ 5V 3A.

The kit that I got came with a Noobs card. That one would start but get stuck with an error saying something like stable/oldstable error and would not update.

Using the Raspberry Pi imager, I reflashed the SD card with "Debian Bullseye 10/30/21 release", which did not work. I reformatted the card and flashed it with legacy version "Buster w/ Desktop and security updates". The LEDs flashed green for a bit and then both went to a steady red, and no display output.

Thanks!

It sounds like it was originally booting OK. But now the SD card may not have a good OS image on it. What issue did you run into trying to image Bullseye using the Raspberry Pi imager?

No issues at all as far as I can tell. The imager did not have any errors pop up. The write/verify seem to work fine. I also tried using win32disk imager and that did not work either.
Do I need to create 2 separate partitions for it to work? As in, flash the card and then create a partition in the remaining space?

The Raspberry Pi Imager should do all the needed work in terms of formatting and partitioning the SD card. You should not need to do anything prior.

Try again using Raspberry Pi Imager. For the OS version, use the Lite version.

Raspberry Pi OS (other) -> Raspberry Pi OS Lite (32-bit)
