Raspberry Pi 3 and Capacitive Touch HAT

by DrDada1967 on Mon Dec 27, 2021 7:17 pm

Hello,

I posted earlier (24 December) about problems I was having getting my Pi 4 to create sounds from a capacitive touch hat.

In light of my struggles, I obtained a Pi 3 to see if this would help ... it has not helped!

I can get the capacitive hat to work - touch the sensor, light goes on, terminal window says the sensor has been touched - but I cannot get the sensor to play sounds as hoped.

I have begun to focus on Scott Garner's BeetBox instructions and the guide for the Raspberry Pi Music Fingers, both of which rely on touch for sound. When I run the beetbox file, however, I cannot get individual sounds. Thus, I run the file and all the sounds play at once, in a single burst of noise.

Given I know nothing about programming, I have no idea how to run the programme so it works as suggested.

Any suggestions as to how to proceed would be very welcome.

Thanks,
Colin
