As stated in the title.... Almost DIED, I desperately need HELP with Adafruit i2c 16X2 RGB LCD Pi Plate...

Raspberry Pi 3B

Issue: I'm a complete NOOB. Had the Rpi setup below, was fully operational. shelfed it for a bit, dusted it off and no matter wtf I do or how many YT vids, or support articles and forums I read I'm stuck up sh!ts creek. The LCD has pwr of course but NOTHING but a row of "boxes".

Steps I've taken...

1: Restored RPi 3B to default
2. followed every instruction I can find on https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-16x ... thon-usage to no avail
3 Retried steps 1 & 2 X2 and it's not working with Python 2 or 3
4. Tried installing libraries from GitHub, No Luck.
5. Read all 3 pages on viewtopic.php?f=8&t=146375&hilit=i2c+Character+LCD+plate

I'm out of options and am leaning on the members here for support
