Looking for help on where to start for Festival Totem

Hi! My name is Demitri and I am new to ADA fruit projects and programable projects. I am attending Shambhala Music Fest in just about 3 weeks and was interested in making a festival totem for it that consisted of a decent-sized LED Matrix able to play out a small library of gifs. It would have to be able to be mounted to a collapsible pole that can fit on a plane ride there and be able to be powered by a battery pack.

Is there a guide that accomplished what I wanted to do? Or maybe something similar? Any help on this project would be super appreciated (:
