Powerboost to 2A?

by buzquirk on Tue Mar 07, 2017 12:29 am

Hey all,

I am trying to make a portable smart mirror (hand mirror?) and I am using an Intel Compute Stick (1st gen). I recently purchased a 3.7 V, 2000mAh battery from the Adafruit store in order to power the stick (5V, 2A). I also have a Powerboost 1000C which brings the battery to the correct 5V, but when I plug in the Charger Doctor, the Intel compute stick is only receiving .5-.9A.

Anytime I say a command to Cortana or click on any widget or program, it shuts off because of the low Amperage. Is there a way that I can increase the battery Amperage to the Compute Stick?

Thanks,

Matt

The PowerBoost 1000C has a hard upper limit of 1.1A output. Going above that can damage the LiPo charger that handles power routing on the board.

If you need more than 1A, you'll need to switch over to the PowerBoost 1000 Basic. It doesn't have a LiPo charger to protect, so it can produce up to 2.4A.

You're right! It worked! Will be posting an Instructable on this build in the coming days.

Thanks for your help!
