Large momentary tactile pushbutton

by rizla420 on Wed Sep 16, 2009 4:47 pm

Anyone know of where i can find a large momentary tactile push button? Sparkfun has one that is the right idea, but it's 12v. I just want something large that i can smack, but that works just like the cheapo pushbuttons.

Something like the Staples Easy Button.

Not sure what you mean -

Do you mean it's rated to 12V and you need it rated to a higher voltage? I can't find any with that rating from Sparkfun - a few 120V, and a few 12mm ... but no 12V

Give us a link to the one you are talking about and maybe we can suggest something.

Incase these aren't what you were talking about, these look pretty cool

I've seen those, but it seems like whenever you get into big buttons they all want to throw lights and higher wattage in them. Specifically the sparkfun button I was referring to is: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9181

But its has a lamp and uses12v. I just was looking for a big button, but it doesnt seem like there's a happy compromise. I'm only asking this because I physically cloned an easy button (made a rubber mold > resin cast) but I pretty much cant use the internals of the button, just the physical aspects of it. I want to use one of the long stem tactile buttons i have, but I dont feel like trying to cast some sort of support that incorporates a spring mechanism to give it the push back.. I was just hoping there was an easier solution out there. Guess i have to finish it.

If you really like the Spark-fun button, buy it and remove the lamp-holder. The lamp circuit is separate from the button contact circuit. You can use just the button contacts if you want.
