Making keyboard for iPad, etc

by Cortez527 on Tue Nov 21, 2017 1:47 pm

Hello all,

I work with high special needs students and the available adaptive switches with Bluetooth are too few keys for what I would like to do with my students. I've done some research and the Bluefruit EZ-Keys looks like the sort of thing I could use to make my own, but I understand they no longer work with the newer Bluetooth settings and are discontinued. I'm new to working with electronics so I'm unsure where else to start.

The minimum requirements for my students would be 3 switches recognizable by an iPad 3 and up, but more capability would always be better. What sorts of boards/chips would best fit my needs? Thank you.

The Feather 32u4 BLE will work as a wireless keyboard:

You can program it to watch the buttons for input and emit the correct key signals to the iPad.
