Electret mic amp

by keithg on Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:26 pm

I have spent the better part of two weeks trying to amplify the signal of an electret mic. that will power an LM3915. Using Arduino analog pin to record data returns a range too narrow, no sensitivity to ambient room noise. I have also tried a peizo element without success. Hair pulling, teeth grinding, swearing has not improved the circuit one bit. Your thoughts please? Thanks.

Have you tried an amplifier?

Are you powering the electret element (which would be done via the mic amplifier mentioned above)? Electret's are not passive, and need power. Please excuse if this is obvious and you have done so.
