5 inch screen defective.

by ChewbaccaSaurusRex on Sat Dec 16, 2017 3:27 pm

I received a 5 inch screen part #1680 and upon arrival the screen will not display anything when plugged into it's display driver part #2218. I would like a replacement display.
Here are the images since I can't upload them here due to file size. https://imgur.com/a/SPpWg

I had to use a pc monitor first and then was able to load the drivers for my 7 inch and then I was able to use the 7inch.

I don't have it plugged into a raspberry pi or PC I have the display driver plugged into a Roku streaming stick. But the screens backlight won't even turn on.

What are you using to power the lcd screen? It needs 5v 2amps to run(usb)

I'm using a USB power brick with an output of 5v 3.4Amps max.

You might be running into a problem with an HDMI 'protected' video stream.

HDMI has a set of rules that won't allow copy-protected video to play on hardware that doesn't enforce all the copy-protection rules. Our displays don't enforce those rules, so they can't play protected content.

Try connecting the display to a RasPi or other computer and see if you can get any output that way.

I tried multiple HDMI devices now the display still won't power on.

Okay, let's try another display.

Send a note containing a link to this thread and your order number to support@adafruit.com. The folks there will get you another display, and may arrange return shipping for the one you have now.
