Powering 7'' display through Raspberry Pi

Post by hailedev »

Hello,

First of all, please forgive me as I am new to Raspberry Pi and still learning things.

I have the HDMI 4 Pi 7" Display with the mini driver and was wondering if it was possible to power it though the +5V and GND pins on the Raspberry Pi? I'm currently powering the Pi using the 3.7v 1200mAh battery with the Power Boost 1000.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Could you post a link to the product page for the specific display you're using please? We have several which use that set of words in their name.

Thanky you.

You might be able to power that display from the PowerBoost, but we can't guarantee it. The driver board is specified for supply voltages between 5v and 12v, but some of them are marginal at 5v.

The good news is that it won't hurt to try.

Hi everyone,

I have some questions regarding the 2396 HDMI 7" Display

1. Can I use this product without the Raspberry Pi. In other words, does it handle all the graphics itself?
I would like to interface to it with my own MCU.

2. Does it support international language or do I have to create a table for it?

3. Does it have GUI development software, to create buttons, switches, sliders, menus, etc..?

Thanks,
NeilP

The display driver only accepts HDMI input. Programming a microcontroller to generate HDMI would be a serious challenge. Most microcontrollers aren't fast enough, and I'm not sure they even generate the correct kind of signals.
