Hey Braintrust,
I just received my DS18B20 temp sensor, wired it up per any and all instructions, and when I plug it in to either of my PI 3's , the sensor gets
skin burning hot. I show a 4v drop across the resistor. I have checked and double checked all my wiring and it is identical to what is online.
One PI is running Raspbian and the other is running Ubuntu.
Any thoughts?
Rick

Please post a photo showing your connections between sensor and Pi.

Here is the breadboard. The blue is to ground.

That looks correct. Sounds like maybe an internal short in the sensor itself. Please contact [email protected] with a link to this thread and we can send a replacement.

also fyi, if you keep having this issue, check that the cable is plugged in right into the Pi - one can get it backwards!
