I have some students who want to put together an LED display for student council to post messages.
So far, they want:
2 - 64x32 RGB LED Matrix - 5mm pitch displays
1 - Adafruit RGB Matrix HAT + RTC for Raspberry Pi - Mini Kit
1 - Female DC Power adapter - 2.1mm jack to screw terminal block
They are going to supply their own raspberry pi with power supply.
The questions are:
What power supplies are needed to run the two boards and matrix? Can the boards and matrix be powered by adafruit's 5v 10amp supply, or do we need separate power supplies for everything?
What cable do we need to connect the displays together? (Looks like IDC, but they come in different configurations...)
Are there other things we will need?
Power supply and cables for daisy chained LED matrix

Re: Power supply and cables for daisy chained LED matrix
Some general info on powering the display's is here:What power supplies are needed to run the two boards and matrix?
https://learn.adafruit.com/32x16-32x32- ... x/powering
and specifics on using them with the RGB HAT here:

Yes, that would work. Read the linked guide above for more details. Can the boards and matrix be powered by adafruit's 5v 10amp supply, or do we need separate power supplies for everything?
Use the ribbon cable that comes with the display. What cable do we need to connect the displays together?
I think you've got the main parts covered. You'll need some tools (soldering iron, solder, wire cutters) for assembling the RGB HAT:Are there other things we will need?
