connecting two arms that need to swivel
I have a DC motor with an arm sticking out perpendicular from the shaft, it is essentially one arm of a propeller system, spinning around. I want to attach an additional extension on the end of that arm, but the extension needs to be able to swivel and move back and forth freely. What should I use that is not only light but will allow my secondary arm to swivel while being securely connected to the first arm. I would post pictures, but I am unable to at this time.

It would be helpful if you could give us more detail about the dimensions and construction of the existing arm and the extension you want to attach to it.

Bushings and bearings are the usual method of connecting articulating parts. The more urgent problem with what you describe is that you are creating an unbalanced load and vibration and stress on the motor shaft will increase as the shaft speed increases.
