315MHz Keyfob on HT12D

by aarothepharo on Fri Feb 15, 2019 12:06 pm

Does anyone know if the 315MHz 4 button keyfob can be used in a receiver containing the Holtek HT12D? I know the keyfob uses the PT 22x2 chipset but the datasheets seem really similar.

I'm afraid we don't know. Maybe someone from the community has tried that combination though.

Princeton is a little more clear in their data sheet (IMHO) about their encoding algorithm and timing than Holtek is. They are both very similar and use 12 bits. It is hard to say if they are quite the same. The easiest way would be to try it and see if it works. I am guessing no. At that point, further investigation would require looking at the data output from the encoders with a scope/logic analyzer and comparing the two to see if there was any hope of trying to get them to communicate. Obviously the RF carrier would have to be compatible as well.
