Hello Everyone!
trying to teach myself how to draw PCBs. Following Lady Ada's helpful HOWTO at:
http://www.ladyada.net/library/pcb/
I have opted for Eagle, and found that it indeed sucks like all other options. Trying to get used to it via the tutorial at:
ftp://ftp.elektronika.rs.ba/dokumenti/EagleTutorial-eng.pdf
Which helped to start putting me in the mindset of the tool. Now I decided to do something functional, using someone else's circuit so that I can assume it is reasonably bug-free, and focusing on getting the PCB step right, not the design. I went with Nuts And Volts' Proximity Detector:
http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/PressRoom/ ... id=2859412
Which conveniently has a parts list, all from Jameco, attached (hey, I like to make my life easier
Now, I have set up my sketch sheet in Eagle, and I am ready to plop components in. Lets look at R1, using the Jameco parts list, it is
http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... llDownView
Now, I cal look up "resistor" form the Eagle rcI library, but how do I go from the parts list to the actual correct selection for the "ADD" step in Eagle? I have all the parts on my desk, and I can measure the components, but that's obviously NOT how I am suposed to get this resolved...
Any help appreciated. I have seen Limor's accelerated video of her editing a board in an hour, but that starts down the path, I am still at the sketch phase.
Hit me with the clue stick please! -F

Re: First PCB, stuck in Eagle!
westfw, you wrote that one? I remember that being one of the easier beginner eagle tuts i came across. I got to the point of being able to lay out a schematic, but doing the layout was a ROYAL pain, I couldnt figure out how to do the vias and fix the rats nest by had. The autorouting was BANNED for the amount of connections I had. Anyhow, that tut is a good beginner one.westfw wrote:See http://www.instructables.com/id/Draw-El ... oft-EAGLE/
