Micro servo 169 SG92R not working

by ntableman on Thu Mar 07, 2019 10:24 am

I have multiple servo controllers from RPi to commercial and I got 2 of these servos - SG92R - yesterday and cannot get them to work. I have tried them on 6 different drivers and I am 100% sure these drivers work because SG5010 and other servos I have worked fine on the exact same driver/channel/connection.

I ran down the specs, checked the voltages and such and I cannot figure out a reason why this is happening. I normally expect maybe 1 to not work, maybe it is a dud, but 2 seems very suspicious.

Can you turn the servo shafts by hand when they are unpowered?
Do the servos show any signs of life (e.g. a twitch) when power is applied?

This is for my MQTT based model train setup and the servos are supposed to help animate a couple things. I left them until today and for some reason they now work. So I have no idea what I was doing wrong back then nor do I know what I am doing right today.

I know, I know....gremlins sometimes exist. Yeah, I am calling them that. HAHAHA
