Mini Thermal Printer

by nooshinri on Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:59 pm

Hi,
I've purchased a mini thermal printer. I've done everything according to the tutorial and the printer works.
Although the prints are too thick and dark (same as the picture) and I dont know how to fix it:

Is the test print similarly dark? What are you using for a power supply?

So, as I read in the tutorial, when you hold the button, the test sheet has to come out, but mine doesn't do that. It just feeds blank paper. But, there was a self test sheet already in the box, and the print looks fine on that.
Here's the power I'm using, I've connected it to an arduino uno with all the wires copied from your tutorial.

You have to hold the button while applying power to get the self test print. After power up, the button is just a paper feed.

12V is higher than the max 9v power the printer can take. Do you have another power supply?

I decreased the power to 9v. The prints are very light now.
Tried with 2 different plugs, same thing happens.
Is that a power problem or I have to change something in the code?

It still looks power related. What is the current rating for the 9V supply? (it was 2 amps for your 12V supply)
