usb power for an "on camera" led panel light

by boudreaupaul on Tue Apr 23, 2019 4:09 pm

I'm looking for a cord 5.1mm by 2.1mm barrel to power a smallish led pannel light via usb. I'm wanting to power it by a usb battery.

here is the link to the light https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079G ... UTF8&psc=1

here is the product from Adafruit i'm looking at. https://www.adafruit.com/product/2778

i don't think it will work because the light specs say "Input: DC 13V-17V DC Plug Dimension : 5.5mm x 2.1mm(No Adapter)"

can anyone offer help? advice?

Plug size may or may not be an issue. The tolerance of the outer barrel size is generally pretty loose.

Power is the bigger issue. The light needs 15 watts at 13-17v. The 'Booster Cable' is only capable of about 8.5 watts at 12v. In other words - about half of the power needed by the light.

my thoughts exactly. I'm not really all that educated as far as electricity currents go but it seemed to me there wasn't enough juice to power the light.

Is there a different product that would work?

Unfortunately, we do not have anything that meets those specs.
