Ip camera pan/tilt

by drummerboyx on Thu Mar 25, 2010 7:49 am

Hello,
I just bought this camera off of eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com:80/Wireless-IP-WiFi ... direct=off

it's an ip camera that has pan/tilt capabilities as well as audio and night vision. It creates a webservers that can move it, ect. I recently used code on my webserver (created by an arduino) that got the image from an iPhone app that created a video feed.

Is there a way to access all the other functions on the eBay camera on my arduino webservers? For example on my webservers I could move the camera, turn on night vision, ect.

Thanks,
Elijah

if the camera has a built-in web server then you could technically use the ethernet shield to send the web server the same http post or get requests that the camera's web interface receives when you access it by hand. In other words, you would need figure out what commands the camera's web server responds to in order to control the camera servos. these commands must be simple http get or post messages that the camera web server receives.

to figure out these commands, you could use a tcp listener such as ethereal or even Fiddler. When you login to the camera's web interface, you set the listener on. Then set the camera to move. The listener will then see what http command your browser sent to the camera web server. You could then replicate these same commands to operate it from any other location.

Hope this wasn't too confusing. Good luck!
