Powering Rasberry Pi Zero with battery

by awezm on Sun Jul 28, 2019 8:00 pm

I want to do live video streaming the the Raspberry Pi Zero W with Camera Module V2-8 Megapixel,1080p. This means that I will be recording a video and transmitting that video via wifi from the Raspberry Pi. I want to power this setup for at least 3 hours.

I thought I would use a lithium ion battery. Would it be safe to use this Adafruit Mini Lipo/ Mini B - USB Charger to connect a battery on one side and then use a usb cable to connect the Raspberry Pi from the other side? Adafruit Mini Lipo/ Mini B - USB Charger: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1905?g ... gJa-PD_BwE

I'm not sure, but I think I can only use batteries less than 5 V for the raspberry pi with the camera device, but the amount of mAh does not matter. My understanding that the larger the mAh, the longer the Raspberry Pi will be powered.

The batteries I am trying to pick are these:

https://www.amazon.com/1-Pack-18650-Rec ... 241&sr=1-9

Should they be safe to use with the Adafruit Mini Lipo/ Mini B - USB and ensure that the Raspberry Pi does not fry.
Thanks!

I think what you are after is one of the PowerBoosts Chargers:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/1944
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2465
or without charging if you want to charge the battery elsewhere:

Keep in mind we only cover usage with the batteries in our shop. See product page for details.
