Data connections between separate LED elements?

by seefar on Fri Aug 02, 2019 4:53 pm

Hi,

Apologies if this is a basic question or covered somewhere; I couldn't find it in the forums or learning center –

When connecting multiple LED elements that are running a synchronized animation (e.g. strands, strips, rings) from a single controller how should one plan to wire the data connections?

Can data be connected to each element directly from the controller (like power) or does it need to be daisy-chained from element to element?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Clayton

Either way can work. If you daisy-chain them, you need to declare a strip as long as all of your pixels put together. If you wire them individually, you need to declare a separate strip for each pin that has pixels connected to it.

For digital pixels, this guide is a good place to start: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neo ... -neopixels
