Recharging 3.7v 3000mAh lithium polymer battery?

by StutteringJack on Thu Aug 15, 2019 9:20 pm

I got this battery recently for a wearable project, a 3.7 volt 3000mAh lithium polymer battery to power some led strips for a wearable project of mine, and I don't have a 3.7 volt power supply to charge it, but it has one of those little protector circuits taped on top of it. Since I don't have a 3.7 volt power supply, is it safe to hook it up to 6 volts since the circuit should technically protect the battery? I just wanted to confirm with some people who know what they're doing before I blow up my battery, thanks.

That is not safe. Get yourself a real charger designed for LiPo chemistry. These should work well. https://www.adafruit.com/product/1904 or https://www.adafruit.com/product/1905

you can get a tp4056 for like .99 cents from ebay to charge your 3.7 lithium battery https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-10PCS-TP40 ... Gmcpa-XaQQ
