Screw Inserts and tip for soldering iron

by wsquared58 on Fri Aug 23, 2019 5:36 pm

Is there a way to determine the hole size prior to using the brass inserts and special tip on a soldering iron such that melted plastic doesn't push up inside the insert as you push it in to hole? Just got my weatherproof box and it has a ton of places for inserts of various sizes but I know from messing around with a different box that if the pre-configured hole is too small the plastic wants to go in to the threads of the insert.

The insert is about 5.0mm. across the widest part and 4.3mm at the waist. I don't have one to measure but have a program I can use to get measurements from a picture.
